Orisa Q & A
1. Can you tell me about your Orisa readings / divinations?
Yes, you may book a reading today. I read Merindinlogun or 16 Cowries’ oracle for divinations to give you messages from the Orisa (divinities/Gods). The Orisa may speak about your: health, money, love life, family, spiritual self, etc.
Messages bring insight, transformation and blessings. You are permitted to ask questions too. Results are emailed and with an audio recording. Your privacy is strictly respected. Many more details are on the Book a Reading page.
Cost: $300, book a reading here.

2. What about your rituals and ceremonies?
For personal rituals and ceremonies, we’d first determine if it’s your destiny via a reading. If so, then you will experience elevation from the ancestors (egun), Orisa (divinities), and/or other benevolent forces. For free group rituals join us via Egbe Aborisa.
Personal rituals and ceremonies are for healing an aspect of one’s life, to gain greater access to the divine spirits, and/or to help one cross from one life stage to another. You can be of any religion or culture to participate. They take many forms including: head cleanings, spiritual baths, receiving elekes (beads), weddings, receiving ancestor (egun) or Orisa sacred objects, naming ceremonies, and full initiations.
For those wanting to be a full Yoruba/Orisa devotee—a ceremony is usually necessary. However, not every devotee is meant to do full initiation. Ceremonies usually cost from $100s to low $1000s. Initiations usually cost $1000s. For more info read this guide. Celebrate with us via Egbe Aborisa.

6. Do you offer free experiences?
I do offer free events via Egbe Aborisa, other organizations, and my guide. This guide is an invaluable free resource, and is a good place to figure out how to start personally engaging in Orisa practice.
Other organizations also invite me to do events that are free for the public—check News to see!

7. Why do Orisa priests charge money?
Because the Orisa tell us to. Payment is an easy way for you to value us. You help us—as we are helping you. This is a spiritual AND material tradition. My readings are $300, and in exchange you get life changing messages from the Orisa! Also, there are usually no-cost options for sincere individuals (see above).
8. What is your Orisa background?
I have over 25 years of full-time study, practice, dedication, and teaching which allows me to be considered a Yoruba-Orisa expert. I became an aborisa (Yoruba-Orisa devotee) in 1998. I began my profession as a Yoruba academic scholar in 1999. I was installed as a chief (Oloye) in Obatala’s kingdom of Ifon-Orolu in 2001.
In 2005 I was initiated to Oshun/Ọ̀ṣun (Iyalorisa)! After training, I began doing readings and rituals for clients and students. I started writing the Yoruba Orisa Children's Book Series in 2010. I was recently initiated to Ifa too!
My Orisa godparents include: Dr. Baba Ade Ofunniyin (Iba se), Araba Ifayemi Elebuibon, Chief Aje, Iya Aina Olomo (Iba se), and Araba Awodiran Agboola. I’ve had numerous academic Yoruba professors. My husband is an Ifa priest (Babalawo) and my collaborator, our ile/home temple is active. I have invaluable experiences with VERY good friends who are also priests.
I lived in Ile-Ife Nigeria, and studied the Yoruba language. I have read hundreds of Yoruba books. Above all, the actual Orisa are my best teachers! For more on me see my ‘About’ page including the FAQ.
